ZIMBABWE – HARARE – AllHipHop.com announced this week that rap star Nas, Wyclef Jean, Damian Marley and Kanye West will be performing at a gig in Harare, Zimbabwe on April 19, 2010.

According to promoters, Nas, Wyclef, Kanye West will be the top Hip-Hop acts who will travel to Zimbabwe to take part in the Zimrocks 2010 International Music Concert.

The concert, which will take place at Rufaro Stadium, is designed to raise money and awareness about the plight of the people of Zimbabwe, who have suffered due to the political and economic crisis that has gripped the country.

Zimrocks 2010 is tentatively being held on the symbolic day of April 19, to commemorate Bob Marley’s April 19 inauguration performance celebrating Zimbabwe’s independence.

Artists listed as participating in the Zimrocks 2010 concert include Kanye West, Talib Kweli, Damian Marley, Wyclef Jean and others.

Wyclef is a Grammy Award winning multimillionaire rock star who comes from Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. He’s one of thousands of Haitians who immigrated to the U.S.

Wyclef is one of the world’s most recognizable stars, performing before sold-out audiences, selling more than 50 million records in a 20-year career. His music is an eclectic mix, rooted in his Haitian DNA. Known primarily as a hip hop artist, he has a gift for guitar that reminds many of Jimi Hendrix.

Chicago-bred, soul sampling, producer wonderkind, Kanye West’s music is inarguably the most exciting thing going on in hip-hop right now, while Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones, who performs under the mononym Nas, is a leading America rapper and actor.

Damian Robert Nesta “Junior Gong” Marley, is a Jamaican reggae artist, a humanitarian, and the youngest son of the late reggae legend Bob Marley. He has won three Grammy awards.
