ZIMBABWE – HARARE – The Ministry of Information Communication Technology yesterday launched its website – a development that is expected to market the country’s re-branding process.
Officially launching the website in Harare, ICT Minister Nelson Chamisa said the website would be used to market Zimbabwe.
Minister Chamisa said plans were underway to come up with a consolidated national Government website. “We are proud to launch a web- site for the ICT Ministry.
It is important for us as a nation to be visible on the worldwide web because it is the only way we can re-brand and market our country.
“Such tools of communication are vital in ensuring that those who wish to visit Zimbabwe can get the correct picture of the country online,” Minister Chamisa said.
The site, he said was designed by a Zimbabwean Tapiwa Chirasasa, which testifies to the talent in the country.
“Although it appears funny that other ministries launched their sites well before the responsible ministry, ours is different and it was developed with great local talent.
“It was done by our young Tapiwa Chirasasa. This proves that we have enough talent in our youngsters who are capable of producing great things,” he said.
Minister Chamisa admitted that the developers had erroneously left out the Zimbabwean flag colours for identity and undertook to ensure that these were included as part of the website design.
