ZIMBABWE – HARARE – The MDC this weekend resumes its nationwide feedback rallies to hear the people’s views on the worthiness and sustainability of the inclusive government.

Following the resolutions of the MDC National Council to engage and consult the people on progress of the inclusive government formed eight months ago, the MDC last week started the national rallies.

The MDC leaders including the vice-president, Thokozani Khupe, national chairman, Lovemore Moyo, secretary-general, Tendai Biti, party spokesperson, Nelson Chamisa and deputy organising secretary, Senator Morgen Tsvangirai will address some of the rallies.

Last week the MDC held several successful rallies across the country.

This weekend there over 50 rallies are scheduled across the country. Some of the rallies will be held in Norton Rural and Selous Grounds, in Ward 26 and 27 Norton Town, Gambiza Township in Sanyati, Chakohwa Business Centre, Chimanimani West, Nyika Primary School in Mutare North and Ndunduma Primary School , Musikavanhu.
The rallies come as pressure mouts on the MDC to pull out of the GNU.

There is deep running resentment in the MDC about the skwed nature of Zimbabwe’s power-sharing deal, which retains wide sweeping powers on President Mugabe and leaves the Prime Minister as a lame duck Premiere.

Mugabe told CNN in an exclusive interview in New York that he was “digging in” as the West attempted to overthrow his unpopular party from power.

At the UN, bombastic Mugabe demanded the removal of “illegal” sanctions against his regime. Mugabe was Friday’s first speaker, and he accused Western nations of imposing “illegal sanctions” on his country.

Mugabe said foreign powers had been working “strenuously” to divide parties in Zimbabwe’s “inclusive” government. He called on Western governments to stop what he said were their “filthy,” “clandestine” and “divisive” practices. He did not name specific countries.
